Welcome to the RICS website section for Japan.
Japan is situated in eastern Asia, being an island chain between the North Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan, east of the Korean Peninsula.
Japan has the third largest economy in the world after the US and China. Industry, the most important sector of the economy, is heavily dependent on imported raw materials and fuels.
Japan is one of the world's largest and most technologically advanced producers of motor vehicles, electronic equipment, machine tools, steel and nonferrous metals, ships, chemicals; textiles, processed foods
There are 11 Chartered Surveyors in Japan, mainly practising Quantity Surveyors in the construction market.
