RICS was picked by the organizer of the Joint Business Community Luncheon to ask HKSAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang one of the four questions to represent the concerns of the Hong Kong business community.

Mr Nigel Smith, Chairman of the RICS Hong Kong Commercial Property PG Committee asked the CE face-to-face the question of whether the Hong Kong government has a plan in ensuring a stable long term land supply for residential and commercial property.

Mr Tsang responded by admitting that Hong Kong has a serious shortage of land for Grade A offices, and the government is looking at innovative ways to release land such as exploring the feasibility of caves, land reclamation of non-sensitive coastal area, and sustainable urban density initiatives.

The other questions were asked by the representatives from Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Chinese Manufacturer’s Association of Hong Kong.
