The opportunities for surveyors abound in China's booming construction and real estate markets. There are over 1 400 chartered surveyors now living and working in China with almost as many again regularly visiting on projects from Hong Kong, Singapore and other regional centres. Almost one quarter of these surveyors are locally qualified with this proportion growing as each regular APC assessment takes place.

With six academic courses already accredited and a further number of courses undergoing assessment, the growth in the number of Chinese based Chartered Surveyors will show a significant growth over the coming years. In addition to new members qualifying through the academic route, the membership is growing in China with experienced membership as well as expert membership routes also bringing new members on board.

Relationships with many local kindred professional organisations is already in place and the opportunity for surveyors to learn and gain valuable experience from local professionals as well as local professionals learning from the international experience of qualified surveyors is creating an ever increasing and exciting role for Chartered Surveyors in China.
